AP PREP POST 1 SIDDHARTHA

  1.
      1. What is meaning of knowledge? How does it differ from wisdom?
      2. What does the novel ultimately suggest about the quest for knowledge?
      3. Is this a novel about activity/experience/striving or about passivity/acceptance?
      4. What are the conflicts in Siddhartha? What types of conflict (physical, moral, intellectual, or emotional) did you see in the novel?
      5. What are some themes in the novel? How do they relate to the plot and characters?

      1. The meaning of knowledge is skills and information learned from living. They are facts used to formulate wisdom, which is the ability to make good choices. You cannot have wisdom without knowledge, because knowledge influences and shapes your wisdom.
      2. The novel suggests that the quest for knowledge is also a quest of wisdom, enlightenment, spirituality, etc. Although I only inferred this from the passage I read, I think that this is the overarching idea from the novel.
      3. Siddhartha is about activity/experience/striving. From the passage, it seems that Siddhartha goes through many activities, experiences, and is striving towards a bigger vision.
      4. I would need to read the entire novel to answer this question.
      5. I also need to read the entire novel to answer this question. I have a general sense of what the theme is, but knowing the entire story would help me do a better job answering this question.
    1. These questions tell me that AP questions requires you to read between the lines and really think about the themes, characters, plot, techniques, and how they all synthesize together to create a story.
